Children well catered for at the Festival

Back by popular demand, the children’s activities area just continues to grow!

Co-ordinator for the children’s activities, Mrs Jacqui Cordwell said that we were overwhelmed at the response we received from previous year’s events, many new and exciting activities for kids were continuing to be introduced.

With the installation of the new kids playground at Heritage Park which the kids love, we continue to add a number of new activities.  Each year, the kids can make and take something home with them - whether it is a wooden boat, or painting paper faces - complete with accessories!

We have also introducing apple bobbing – with a twist.  Rather than the apples being in water – the will be suspended by string from a rack – now that’s tests the kids skills.

We also have lucky dips, balloons, face painting and Icypole Stick lotto.

The jumping castle is always a popular favourite and operates free of charge on Sunday for the younger children, plus the merry-go-round – the kids are sure kept entertained!

Also on site are showbags, fairy floss and bubblewands for sale.  Kids can purchase a bubblewand and then enter “bubbleland” where there will be unlimited bubble mixture for the kids to make as many bubbles as they can.

A new activity in 2007 year called “Lob the Dunny Roll” proved to be a huge hit!  Players need to be able to throw three toilet rolls into a toilet from behind the line to win a prize.  “This is like the clowns at the show, but with toilets and toilet rolls for a bit of fun,” Jacqui said.

The kids have heaps of fun and my advice to parents is to bring a change of clothes – just in case!

For more information on the children's activity area or how to become involved, please contact the Co-ordinator.
